Roosevelt Island Tramway

To get to Roosevelt Island you can take the subway (F train), drive through the Queensboro Bridge or try the coolest way: the aereal tramway.

The Manhattan tramway terminal is on 2rd Avenue & 60th St. and the ride costs a subway ticket ($2.50 these days - 2014). The frequency of the trams varies between 7 and 15 minutes and it takes 3 minutes to get to the island terminal.

Even for acrophobes like me, the tramway ride is very enjoyable, and the views of both the Queensboro Bridge and the city are breathtaking.

The tramway has been featured in many films like Spiderman,  Nighthawks, Léon and Now You See Me, among others.

Loved the colors and views of the Hudson from the tramway.

The Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building from the tramway seem to be the same height due to perspective.
