The Madison, Hamburg

A great stay in Hamburg's city center, close to the Harbor, the Portuguese quarter and the shopping area.

Some months ago we visited Hamburg for a weekend, it was my second time in the city (first was about 15 years ago) but since I had good memories I wanted to check it out again. We picked The Madison for our stay because (besides the nice price) it has a great location close to everything we wanted to see and it turned out to be a great choice.
The area where it's located is quiet but great for exploring the city, it's just a couple of blocks from the harbor, a 5 minute walk to St. Michael's and the Portuguese quarter and a 10 minute walk to the city center's main shopping streets and sights.
The hotel has a very nice design, a spacious lobby and nice staff. The rooms are spacious, we had a nice corner room with lots of light, a small kitchenette and sofa and comfortable bed.
There bathroom is spacious as well, with a cute little rubber duckie welcoming you. :)
The only 'downside' of the hotel (but nothing really bad) is the fact that you can use the spa, which is located at the gym next door, only until noon (after that you have to pay to use it). I would have liked to use the steam bath in the afternoon after a day of walking around Hamburg but it's no biggie.
Instead, I must say that their breakfast is great, lots of options: cold cuts, cheeses, sausages, omelettes, etc. definitely worth the extra cost, but if you find a nice offer including it in their website, go for it!
